The band was born in 2003. Their first recording is a four-tracks-EP titled "Stati Alterati", which is released in December and is positively reviewed by the most important Italian webzines and magazines. The national radio Radio1 RAI broadcasts the CD, considering Atto IV at the same level of historical Italian prog bands, like PFM and Banco del Mutuo Soccorso.
In 2005 the full-lenght album "A parte" is released with the label Videoradio. Enthusiastic attentions come from Italy, Germany, Japan, United States, Canada, France; prog-radios, webzines and newspapers broadcast and fully promote the band.
In 2006 they open the Italian dates for Tony Levin, during his World Tour.
In 2008 line-up changes, and ATTO IV are ready for a new chapter...
After two years in conceiveing, composing and experimenting, "Shattered Lines" is the brand new album of ATTO IV; a work that presents a band not only renewed in line up, but also in the way to intend the sound and the concept itself of "progressive".
Many influences converge in the nine tracks of the disc: fusion, heavy, alternative rock, electronic and noise are only some of the scrupolously proportioned and combined ingredients, to create a sonic building through whom essential lyrics about the Man, his contraddictions and alienating idiosyncrasies, continuosly wind; both during his individual life and in relationship with others.
Every song is a trip through contrasting atmospheres, free associations of ideas, recurrences, sonic and compositives structures consciously plotted, but also sudden digressions and improvisations.
Shattered lines is to breaking the continuity, to interrupt a course; in good and bad. The polyedric and uncontrollable fragmenting of things and existence toward unknown directions.
